Perler Bead Storage, Finishing Accessories, and Smart Restocking
Storage costs add up if you keep switching systems. Pick one box strategy, label by color code, finish pieces with simple hardware, and restock from your pattern’s usage list.
1. Small boxes: PP square vs spice jars
PP square boxes work well for most colors — roughly on the order of ~1,000–1,500 beads per box (about one 10g bag), depending on size.
Spice-style jars hold far more (around ~10 bags / ~10,000 beads for popular sizes) and suit black, white, and skin tones that disappear fast.
- Snap lids tightly — spilled beads are the #1 storage fail
- Buy a few spare boxes; shipping crush happens
- Label with the same codes as your palette (e.g. MARD H2 / H7)
2. Outer boxes: two proven combos
Combo A: exam-paper storage box + PP square boxes — one flat case can hold about 60 small squares.
Combo B: file storage box + spice boxes — one case often fits about 6 spice jars with a little room left.
Pick one outer-box system and stick with it so shelves stay predictable.
3. Optional rolling trolley
A small rolling cart keeps cases together and movable. One common shelf size (~42×30 cm, ~28 cm clearance) can fit roughly three exam-paper boxes plus two file boxes with a little leftover space.
Not required — useful when your collection outgrows a single desk drawer.
4. Finishing: keychains, magnets, packaging
Finished pieces become keychains, fridge magnets, coasters, frames, and more. For hangers, closed jump rings around 7–10 mm are a practical everyday size; lobster clasps, bell rings, and themed spring clips are easy add-ons.
For fridge magnets, adhesive 3M-style magnet sheets stick to the back of fused pieces — or use matching-width soft magnet strip + nano tape (see the dedicated fridge-magnet tutorial).
Gift packaging that looks retail-ready without costing much: search “header card + back card” (卡头 + 卡背) sleeve sets.
5. Bag size + restock priorities
Many shops sell ~10g bags, often about 1,000 beads (sometimes a little more). Use that as a planning unit when reading color counts.
Overstock black, white, and skin tones on character projects. White especially should stay same-batch — never mix leftover whites into one jar.
